We build systems that think

We believe the best AI systems are built by people who study intelligence and study people. We are senior AI and cognitive science researchers based in Canada. We advise organizations on problems at the intersection of data, AI, and human decision-making.

What We Deliver

Figuring out what to build

Sometimes the most important question isn't how to build it, but what 'it' actually is. We work with organizations to help you frame the problem effectively, assess the feasibility and impact, and make confident decisions. We also deliver executive briefings and workshops for leadership teams on current AI capabilities, limitations and architectures.

Assessing AI opportunities

For investors, grant agencies, and finance staff evaluating AI initiatives — we provide independent technical due diligence. We know how to tell the difference between a compelling demo, and a transformative system people will want. We help you identify the hidden opportunity — in infrastructure, hardware, or energy — that turns out to matter.

AI System design

We advise organizations on how to build systems that are technically deep, cost-efficient, and integrated into your organization's workflow. From data pipelines to system architecture — we optimize your AI investment so it compounds over time.

Understanding your data

You want to know what your data means, and what you're missing. We design analytics pipelines, statistical models, and behavioural analyses that go beyond describing what happened — to understanding why, and what's likely next. We work across the full range — from modernizing your day-to-day workflow, to building the models that drive your most complex decisions.

How We Work

We start with your problem – what are you trying to solve with AI? Where is your product failing to get traction? What are the obstacles in adoption of AI? Is it realizing value? How would people use it, and what does the data actually represent? We bring research-level insight into how intelligence works, human and machine, and apply it directly to your problem. We are insiders to AI: researchers who have spent careers at MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, Stanford, Singapore, Vector Institute, and the University of Toronto. You work directly with one of us. Who We Are

A group of researchers with active academic positions. We study intelligence — human and machine — and build systems informed by that understanding.

Marta Kryven, PhD Founder, Chief Scientist

AI researcher. Cognitive scientist. University of Waterloo | MIT. Holds several NeurIPS paper awards and AI patents. Studies how intelligent systems - human and machine - reason, plan, and learn. Applies that thinking to consulting in data systems, AI design, safety and adoption, behavioural modelling, and strategy.

Sageev Oore, PhD Principal Research Scientist

Deep learning researcher. PhD supervised by Nobel laureate Geoffrey Hinton. Research Scientist, Google Brain. Canada CIFAR AI Chair, Vector Institute. Professor, Dalhousie University. Research and consulting across medicine, finance, education, oceans, and creative sectors. Award-winning musician.

Joseph Jay Williams, PhD Principal Research Scientist

Human-Computer Interaction, Statistics, & AI researcher. Berkeley/Stanford/Harvard|University of Toronto. Uses Adaptive A/B Experimentation and human-computer interaction to help organizations discover when AI does and doesn't work – and adapt to different contexts. Won $1M XPRIZE for the future of AI based Experimentation.

Hassan Sajjad, PhD Principal Research Scientist

Generative AI and mechanistic interpretability. NeurIPS Area Chair. Studies how large AI systems work internally to understand and auditing model behaviour. Advising companies on AI system design, evaluation, and responsible deployment.
